Kupwara: The police on Tuesday apprehended an Over-Ground Worker (OGW) and recovered two AK-47 rifles, four pistols and 208 AK rounds from his possession in Tangdhar area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.

An official said that on a specific tip off, a search operation was launched in the house of Adil Hussain Mir, son of Haider Shah at Takia Badarkote. During the search operation, two AK-47 rifles, two magazines and 208 AK rounds were seized from his house.

He said that during questioning, Adil disclosed that he had received the consignment from one Faraz Ahmed, son of Mir Shah, a resident of Padna Prara Tangdhar.

“Upon the disclosure, searches were carried out at Fayaz's house. During searches, four pistols along with five magazines and a packet of brown sugar like substance were recovered from his house. However he had already escaped from his house and efforts were on to trace him,” he added.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara Yougal Kumar Manhas confirmed to Greater Kashmir that a militant associate was arrested along with arms and ammunition from Takia Badarkote area of Tangdhar on Tuesday afternoon.
