Raj Bhawan, Civil Secretariat Jammu declared ‘no fly zone’ areas

Jammu: District administration Jammu declared the Raj Bhawan and the Civil Secretariat Jammu as ‘no fly zone’ areas in view of “security threat”.

“In view of the security threat posed due to the recent trends of carrying out drone attacks by anti-national elements, it is imperative to initiate necessary security measures for ensuring the safety and airspace over Raj Bhawan and Civil Secretariat Jammu,” an order by District Magistrate, Jammu, Anshul Garg, reads.

   

This decision was taken after a communication was received from Director, Special Security Force, J&K, Srinagar, stating: “Raj Bhawan and Civil Secretariat, Jammu be declared as ‘no fly zone’ areas in view of the daily commitments of Lt Governor, J&K vis-à-vis immense threat to him at the hands of anti-national elements.”

“The areas/venues where the Lt Governor is scheduled to visit for different events, may also be declared as ‘no fly zone’ before the commencement of the event till its culmination,” the order says.

It reads: “The airspace over Raj Bhawan, and Civil Secretariat, Jammu is declared as ‘no fly zone’ and flying of drones and unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) shall be strictly prohibited over and above these premises with immediate effect.”

There shall be complete prohibition on flying of drones and UAVs over all areas/venues in Jammu district as and when Lt Governor is scheduled to visit in connection with holding of events, it said.

The SSP Jammu has been directed to ensure implementation of the order in letter and spirit.
