Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday nominated former minister Surjit Singh Slathia as its vice president.

“Surjit Singh Slathiaji former minister is hereby nominated as BJP vice president J&K UT,” read a brief statement issued by J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina.

On October 11, Slathia joined by former MLA Nagrota Devender Singh Rana had joined BJP after resigning from the National Conference.

On November 11, the party had nominated Slathia, along with seven other leaders including Rana as its J&K executive committee members.

Besides Rana and Slathia, former MLA Bishnah Kamal Arora, former minister Prem Sagar Aziz, former Deputy Mayor Dharam Vir Singh Jamwal, former president Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industry Y V Sharma, Somnath Khajuria and Choudhary Arshad were nominated as new UT executive committee members. They all had recently joined BJP deserting NC and Congress.
