Ramban: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway witnessed traffic gridlocks at various places between Nashri and Ramsu on Thursday.
Traffic jams were witnessed at several places between Nashri and Ramsu, giving tough time to the commuters travelling on this stretch.
Travelers said that the traffic snarls on the National Highway has become a routine matter causing inconvenience to commuters.
The passengers and drivers said absence of Traffic Police personals at narrow road stretches and four lane construction sites was causing the bottlenecks.
Reports said massive traffic jams were witnessed at crucial junctions from Jakhani Udhampur to Banihal in Ramban district.
Traffic gridlocks were also seen at Panthyal, Seri, Chanderkote and Maroog.
A traffic official at Police check post Ramban informed Greater Kashmir that in view of Diwali holiday,a large number of people were expected to travel due to which both heavy and light motor vehicles were allowed to move on both sides of the National Highway.
“This lead to vehicles getting stuck in traffic jam for brief periods at various narrow road stretches during the day” the Traffic police official said.
During evening hours, heavy, medium and light motor vehicles on way to Jammu and Srinagar were crossing Ramban- Ramsu stretch of highway at slow pace.
