Ramban: Vehicular traffic remained suspended for some time on Srinagar- Jammu National Highway after an unclaimed bag was recovered along Mehar road ahead of Ramban Wednesday morning.

“Traffic movement was suspended on Srinagar Jammu National Highway between Chanderkote and Ramban after the police found a red coloured suitcase lying unattended on the highway at Mehar. However, the traffic from Ramban to Gool and Banihal remained unaffected during the period,” said a traffic police official.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban, P D Nitya told Greater Kashmir, “We received information at Police Station Ramban that an unclaimed suitcase was lying on the National Highway near Mehar. Security personnel immediately rushed to the spot and suspended traffic between Chanderkote and Ramban on the highway.

The Bomb Disposal squad and Dog squad of Police were summoned. They checked the suitcase with utmost care.” “It contained nothing suspicious, except clothes,” SSP Nitya said. The traffic resumed after some time. Officials said that the bag, belonging to some passenger, might have fallen from a moving vehicle.
