Zewan Attack | Slain policemen laid to rest
Srinagar: The three policemen killed in Monday’s Zewan militant attack, were laid to rest at their respective villages on Tuesday.
Assistant Sub Inspector Ghulam Hassan Bhat of 9 battalion Armed Police, who had succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening, was laid to rest with full state honours in his native village Chuchattar Rajgarh in Ramban district on Tuesday afternoon.
Hundreds of people from Chucheittar and adjoining villages participated in his nimaz-e-janaza.
The wreath laying ceremony which took place at Chuchattar saw Deputy commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam, SSP PD Nitya, SSP Doda and other senior police, Army ,Armed police and civil administration officers of Doda and Ramban district participate who paid last respects to the slain officer. Family sources informed that the slain ASI is survived by his wife and six children.
The slain policeman Rameez Ahmed Baba was laid to rest at his ancestral village Yachama Kangan in Ganderbal district on Tuesday.
Rameez was seriously injured in the attack and succumbed to injuries on Tuesday morning. .
Superintendent of Police Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, CO 8th BN Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, SDPO Kangan and SDM Kangan were present at the nimaz-e-janaza.
The deceased policeman was later laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard. Rameez was recruited in the police department around three years ago.
