The abundance of dogs has become a nuisance for the residents of several areas of the Ganderbal district with people complaining of feeling threatened by the menace.

According to locals, a pack of dogs is seen near the main bus stand, other streets, and lanes of the towns and other areas, particularly in the mornings and evenings.

During the past few months, it has been observed that hundreds of dogs have suddenly appeared in various areas of the district including Gangerhama, Wanipora, Reshipora, Duderhama, Behama Saloora, Kangan, Gund, and other towns of Ganderbal.

These stray dogs are on a prowl, which has become a matter of concern.

“The abundance of dogs has created a sense of fear among the people, especially the children. It has become a grave issue for the people now,” locals said. “The number of dogs in the town is increasing day by day and adjoining localities but the concerned authorities are not paying any attention towards the safety of the people.”
