Grenade attack on PDP MLA’s house in Shopian
Militants attacked the house of a legislator from south Kashmir's Shopian district late on Tuesday night, police said.
A grenade was hurled at the house of Advocate Muhammad Yousuf Bhat in Meemandar area of the district shortly before midnight, a police official said.
Bhat, a sitting MLA from ruling Peoples Democratic Party, represents Shopian in Legislative Assembly. This is the second attack on his house in the recent past. It was attacked by militants in August as well, police said.
"Bhat was not present in his house at the time of the attack," sources said.
However, they said, the grenade exploded with a bang, damaging windowpanes of Bhat's residence.
Militants had last week attacked the house of residence of former PDP legislator, Syed Bashir, in Rajpora area of Pulwama.
