Hailstorm damages orchards, standing crop in Baramulla

Baramulla, June 25: Heavy rains followed by hailstorm hit several parts of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday, damaging orchards and standing crops.

The affected areas include Uri, Hajibal, Pattan, Tangmarg and some parts of Rafiabad area.

   

In Uri area of Baramulla district, heavy rains and hail inflicted huge loss to orchards, walnut and pear trees.

“The unseasonal rain and hailstorm left our orchards damaged. Besides, the standing crop too suffered damage,” said Irshad Ahmad of Balakote, Uri.

The affected areas in Uri include Nambla, Balkote, Gharkote besides main town Uri.

Meanwhile, reports of damage to orchards and standing crops were also reported from Pattan, Hajibal and some parts of Rafiabad area.

In several parts of Tangmarg area, the heavy rains and hailstorm hit the orchards and standing crops.

The locals here said that apple orchards, walnut and pear trees were affected by hailstorm.
