Hailstorm uproots trees, damages rooftops in Baramulla

Baramulla, June 1: Hailstorm accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain lashed several parts of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday, damaging rooftop of some structures and causing damage to crops.

In the upper belt of Rafiabad area, the wind and hailstorms inflicted huge damage to orchards and uprooted several trees in the area.

   

The residents said that severe damage was caused to apple blossom, walnuts, pears and other standing crops.

The worse-affected villages include LadooLadoora, Braman, Balhama, Pazalpora, Panzlla, Kangroos and Chatoosa.

“It is third time in this season when we suffered huge damage due to natural calamity. The administration needs to come to the rescue of the affected people by announcing some package, “ said Ali Muhammad of Rafiabad.

In Baramulla town, the rooftop of a.Masjid at Mohalla Syed Karim was damaged by the fast wind in the area.

At Hajibal, the rooftop of a residential house suffered damage due to the high intensity of the wind.
