Ramban, June 8: The residents, hotel and tea stall owners of Ramban town Tuesday alleged that all the hand pumps installed by ground water division were dysfunctional since last more than six months.
They alleged that the concerned agencies were passing the buck despite persistent complaints.
They said that several hand pumps installed at Bus Stand Ramban Bowali Bazar Maitra Court Complex Ramban and at various places in and outside the district headquarter were not functioning.
They said that the town, which is already facing acute potable drinking water shortage, was bearing the brunt as these water pumps were catering to a major portion of inhabitants and floating population.
The residents said that though they brought the matter to local Jal Shakti engineers, they had expressed their inability to rectify the snags in the water hand pumps installed in and outside the town.
Locals appealed the Deputy Commissioner Ramban to intervene in this regard.
