CME on Recent Advances in Oncology held

Srinagar: CME on ‘Recent Advances in Oncology’ organized by Max Hospital Mohali was held here.

In a statement, organizers said 30 doctors participated in the event. Addressing the CME, Dr. Sajal Kakkar, associate director-radiation & clinical oncology said that “Cancer has achieved epidemic proportions in recent times.”

   

“Early diagnosis and treatment are imperative to achieve the best tumor control or cure rates. Whenever in doubt, refer to a specialist for further consultation and investigations. Once the diagnosis of malignancy is confirmed, treatment should be planned and delivered in multidisciplinary teamwork settings including surgical, radiation and medical Oncologist with tumor board concept,” the statement said.

“Lifestyle modifications like maintaining healthy body weight, regular exercises, avoiding red meat/tobacco/alcohol, safe serials practices and being alert for any sign/symptoms of cancer, will help in preventing and early diagnosis”, he asserted.

Dr Nasir Ahmed Bhat, senior consultant-general and minimal access surgery spoke about the advances in the surgical field. He also discussed breast cancer-related surgical methods with the doctors.
