Jammu: As many as 836 dengue cases have been reported in Jammu region, most of them from the residential areas of Jammu city.
As the cases have again recorded a rise, the officials in State Malariology Department said that 82 cases had been reported from Jammu region on Saturday.
“On Friday, 754 cases were reported in Jammu and most of them are from the residential areas of Jammu city,” said the officials.
They said that the densely-populated Jammu urban areas have over 503 cases.
“In some of the cases families are infected with dengue and these families belong to city areas like Sarwal, New Plot, Bakshi Nagar and other places,” said the official.
He said that Kathua district has over 120 cases and Samba 60 cases and that the local administration, along with the municipal committees of the respective districts, have started fogging.
“People are being made aware about the precautionary measures through the public address system, radio, and social media platforms in Jammu plains,” the official said.
He said that it was the second-highest figure of dengue cases after 2013.
“However, the Malariology Department is taking all measures with the involvement of district administrations in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua and municipal bodies,” the official said.
