Baramulla: The Department of Health in Baramulla has decided to inspect various pediatric clinics across Sopore on Sunday and conduct on spot Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) of sick children.
The initiative has been taken after 20 children under the age group of five years tested positive for COVID-19 during the last two days at Sub District Hospital Sopore.
The nodal officer for COVID-19 at Sub District Hospital Sopore, Dr Shahid said that the RAT would be conducted at eight pediatric clinics.
“We have constituted eight committees of technical staff who will conduct COVID-19 tests of children at these clinics. The aim is to find an actual number of positive cases among the children who often do not conduct COVID-19 tests,” he said.
The officials of the SDH Sopore during the last two days tested several children for COVID-19 and 20 of them tested positive for the virus.
However, the mother of each positive child tested negative for the virus.
Nodal Officer Sopore Dr Shahid said, “We collected samples of parents of positive tested children for the RTPCR. We are waiting for its result.”
Meanwhile, there has been a growing concern among the local residents here that all private clinics operating across the Baramulla district do not adhere to the government-announced SOPs.
