Highway remains closed for traffic

Ramban, June 9: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained closed for traffic today owing to repairs of the road being carried out every Wednesday. The contractor companies engaged by NHIA carried out the repairs of the damaged patches of the road at Dalwass, Karool, Mehar, Ramban, Chamba, Seri Maroog, Battery Chasma and other places between Nashri and Banihal. At some places the bitumen was laid.

No vehicle was allowed to proceed towards Jammu or Srinagar. However, some light motor vehicles and ambulances carrying patients were allowed, a traffic police official told Greater Kashmir.

   

He said the traffic on the highway would be restored Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, as per a traffic advisory issued by traffic police headquarters Srinagar/Jammu today, the LMVs shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu Srinagar Highway on Thursday whereas the HMVs shall be allowed towards Srinagar in the afternoon.
