Director school education Kashmir G N Itoo said on Sunday that the decision to hold class 11 examination through the Board of School Education has been taken in the larger academic interest of the students so that they are well prepared for class 12 and professional competitive examinations.
"This decision was in fact taken on the insistent demand of the students and parents who wanted this examination to be conducted seriously and in a structured manner like class 10 and 12 examinations," Itoo said.
Seeking cooperation of parents, students and other stakeholders, especially the private educational institutions, in smooth and timely conduct of these examinations, Itoo said the education department has already issued instructions to all heads of institutions to organise special counselling sessions for students through subject-specific teachers/lecturers and counseling experts on how to overcome exam stress.
