‘Illicit timber seized in Baramulla’

Srinagar, June 3: Illicit walnut timber was seized in Palhalan and Wanigam Kreeri areas of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Thursday, Police said.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that acting on a specific information about timber smuggling, Police raided the particular spot and seized walnut timber in village Awran Palhalan.

Police said that the accused persons involved in the commission of crime fled from the spot.

Police identified the accused as Jan Mohammad Sofi son of Dar Mohalla Palhallan, Ghulam Mohammad Naikoo and Abdul Rashid Naikoo, both residents of Naik Mohalla Palhallan.

Police said that it also arrested one Muhammad Ayoub Khan of Wanigam Bala Kreeri who was involved in cutting of the green walnut tree in Wanigam Kreeri.
