Jammu: The Public Works (R&B) Department has recommended registration of an FIR against an AEE who “despite being covid19 positive” was allegedly roaming in different government offices in the Civil Secretariat.

The Public Works Department (R&B) Department, HRM Section, Civil Secretariat has lodged a written complaint with the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Srinagar, in this regard.

A day earlier, the government had warned the employees of disciplinary action in case they violated covid guidelines in the secretariat.

In the complaint, the department has claimed that the AEE (name withheld), a resident of Tangpora Byepass, Batmaloo, Srinagar, presently on deputation to Jal Shakti department was declared symptomatic covid19 positive on 19-05-2021. “Instead of isolating himself, he has been found reportedly wandering around various government offices including Civil Secretariat, Srinagar which can be ascertained from the Call Detail Report (CDR) of his mobile number and entry records at Srinagar’s Secretariat,” the official complaint claimed.

Additional Secretary, Public Works (Road and Building), Department, Shahid Mehmood in the complaint said: “He has been found involved in such delinquent/illegal activities causing life threats to other innocent members of the society.”

As per the complaint the officer has allegedly violated the rules/regulations and failed to maintain covid19 protocol and is liable to be dealt with under provision of Disaster Management Act, 2005.

“It is therefore requested to book the officer under relevant provisions of the Act under intimation to this department,” the complaint reads.
