Jammu: A woman intruder was killed along the International Border in RS Pura after which an alert has been sounded in the area, Border Security Force (BSF) said on Monday.

“The intruder was noticed by the alert BSF troops in the forward area when she was challenged to stop and return back,” an official said.

The official said that despite repeated warning, the intruder did not stop and continued running towards the border fence prompting the alert troops to open fire. “The infiltration attempt was thwarted,” he added.

“She got killed as BSF opened fire. Her body has been recovered and handed over to the local police following which it was shifted to the hospital for legal formalities,” said BSF official.

The official said that they have not recovered anything from the intruder. Meanwhile, the official said that they have sounded an alert on the International Border following the incident and patrolling has been increased. “The security grid is tightened and we are ready to meet any challenge on the International Border. Even in peacetime, the troops do not lower their guards and always keep an eye on any suspicious activity on the border,” he added.

The official said that they are working in close coordination with the border police and villagers so that the anti-national elements do not succeed in their evil design.
