Rajouri: Two policemen died and four others were injured when a Police vehicle met an accident in Bufliaz area of Surankote subdivision of Poonch district.

The Police vehicle was an escort vehicle of SSP Poonch and was plying on Surankote-Bufliaz road when it skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge near Bufliaz.

“The driver lost control over the wheel as the tyre of the vehicle hit a stone on the road. The vehicle plunged around 200 feet deep into a gorge,” officials said.

They said that six policemen including the driver were present in the vehicle and all were evacuated from the gorge.

“However, Selection Grade Police Constable Shoaib Ahmed Khan was declared brought dead at the hospital,” officials said.

They said five other injured were admitted at a local hospital and were identified as driver Sham Lal, SGCT Ishtiyaq Ahmad, SGCT Pervaiz Ahmad Bhatti, Constable Shamim Ahmad, and Constable Ghulam Mustafa.

The injured driver Sham Lal and Ishtiyaq Ahmad were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu for specialised treatment where the injured Sham Lal succumbed to injuries.
