Jammu: The Army Thursday organised a weapon and equipment display at Thatri in Kishtwar district as part of ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ celebrations.

A Defence PRO said, “The Indian armed forces in December 1971 secured a decisive and historic victory.”

He said that the year 2021 was being observed as ‘Swamim Vijay Varsh’ by India to mark the 50 years of victory in the 1971 war.

The Defence PRO said that the aim was to familiarise the youth with the glorious past of the Indian Army and motivate them to join the defence services.

“Such events will surely motivate the youth to look beyond the orthodox thoughts and induce feelings of patriotism in the youth,” he said.
