Srinagar: The J&K Pollution Control Committee Kashmir in collaboration with Eco-Clubs (NGC) of Kashmir celebrated Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence.
According to a press note, in this context, a function was organised at Dachigam National Park Srinagar where students from various Eco-Clubs of Kashmir participated in Nature walk inside serene environs of the National Park. Besides this, a debating competition was also organised in which students deliberated upon the importance of River system of the Country with special reference to Jammu and Kashmir.
Later a quiz competition was also conducted and a documentary regarding conservation of natural resources in National Park was filmed by the Department of Wildlife Protection.
The function was presided over by Regional Director, J&K PCC. District Officers, PCC Srinagar, officer and officials of PCC and Deptt of Wildlife Protection participated in the function besides Chief Coordinator Eco Clubs Kashmir and teachers from various schools were also present.
The Regional Director J&K PCC Kashmir Rafi Ahmad Bhat highlighted the importance of the event and appealed for preservation and protection of natural resources including rivers and other water bodies of the UT. The ceremony was concluded by presenting certificates and mementos to the participating students.
