Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Tuesday condemned civilian killings in Kashmir.

A statement of the Bar Association issued here said, “The killing of Dr Mudasir Gul and prominent trader Altaf Ahmad Bhat during a gunfight between militants and security forces at Hyderpora bypass on Monday evening is highly condemnable.”

It said that the bar was deeply concerned about the pre-determined pattern of the killing of civilians either by the security agencies or by the militants.

The Bar statement said that it was a matter of grave concern that the life and liberty of the civilians had been made the worst causality in Kashmir.

“The Bar calls for an independent and impartial probe by a sitting High Court judge in the unarmed civilian killings at Hyderpora. The identity of the other two killings in the gunfight also deserves to be disclosed by the administration. The Bar expresses heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the bereaved families.”
