Shopian: The security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Meemender area of south Kashmir’s Shopian town on Thursday evening.
A Police official said that columns of Army, CRPF, and Police laid a siege around the Meemender locality of the town and conducted a search operation.
“The operation was launched after the forces received inputs about the presence of militants in the area,” the official said.
Another official said that earlier in the day, Army’s 34 RR, CRPF, and Police searched a cluster of houses in Dangam village following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
For the past several weeks, the security forces have increased the vigil in south Kashmir and launched several operations to track the militants hiding in the region.
