CASO in Shopian villages

Shopian: Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched in two villages of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.

A Police official said that columns of Army, CRPF, and Police ring-fenced Mazhama village at around 11:40 pm and carried out a door-to-door search operation.

He said that on Saturday, the forces surrounded Chek Cholland village of the district and carried out searches.

“Both the operations were launched after the forces were tipped off about the presence of militants in these areas,” the official said.

The operations were later called off as no militant was found hiding in these villages.
