FCI manager, 3 employees arrested for accepting bribe: ACB

Srinagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Thursday arrested the manager and three other employees of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), Shaheed Gang, Srinagar, for accepting bribes.

A statement of ACB issued here said that it trapped and arrested the manager FCI, Shaheed Gang, Srinagar, Abdul Qayoom and three other employees of the FCI for demanding and accepting bribes for unloading a truck.

It said that the ACB received a written complaint alleging that the employees of FCI depot Srinagar were unnecessarily delaying to unload the truck and issuance of challan thereof. The statement said that the complainant approached the ACB for taking legal action against Qayoom and other employees of the FCI, Shaheed Gang, Srinagar.

It said that it was revealed that more than 200 vehicles per month are unloaded at FCI Shaheed Gang Srinagar and the manager and other officials use delaying tactics for unloading of vehicles and demand bribes for issuance of challan.

The statement said that on receipt of the complaint a case under FIR No 32/2021 under Sections 7 of the PC Act 1988 and 120 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at the ACB and investigation taken up. It said that during the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted.

The statement said that the team laid a successful trap and caught the manager and three other officials of FCI, Shaheed Gang, Srinagar red handed for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1500 from the complainant.
