Gurez blaze leaves 10 families homeless

Bandipora: At least 10 families lost their homes in an overnight blaze on Wednesday in a remote village of north Kashmir’s Gurez Valley.

As per the details collected from the officials in Gurez, the fire erupted around 2:30 am from a house in Kilshey village’s Tetri Mohalla, located along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tulail tehsil, and later engulfed 14 structures.

With the hamlet being remote and a large stretch not connected with the road, the uncontrolled fire reduced the 14 structures to ashes.

In Gurez’s remote belts, the residents mostly live in houses made of logs and fires become more dangerous.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Mudasir Ahmad Wani said, “Houses of 10 families were damaged in the fire and field teams were also sent to access the losses.”
