Srinagar: Police arrested 12 persons in Budgam who were allegedly involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals. Twelve vehicles, which were being used by them, have also been seized.
Giving details a police spokesmansaid a police party of Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established at Main Chowk Soibugh intercepted andseized 12 tippers.
Twelve persons were also arrested. The arrested persons were involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals and the vehicles were being used by them.
The arrested persons were identified as Amir Ashraf Malla of Shilwat, Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh of Tengpora, Tariq Ahmad Bhat r of Hajjibagh, Ishfaq Ahmad Dar of Cheewa, Imran Hussain Dar t of HMT, Waseem Rashid Khan of Parimpora, Abid Hussain Mir of Bemina, Mehraaj Din Sofi of Hajji Bagh, Showkat Ahmad Shah of Hajji Bagh, Arif Hussain Wani of Beerwah, Ajaz Ahmad Dar of Tengpora and Ishfaaq Ahmad Khan of Gariend Kalan.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 361/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation was initiated.
Police requests the people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities as it is the violation of Government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law, the police spokesman said.
