Muslimabad residents in Bandipora demand better power supply

Bandipora: The Muslimabad residents in the Bandipora town have demanded better power supply in their area. They alleged due to acute power shortage they are facing enormous problems.

The aggrieved locals told the Greater Kashmir that despite several representations to the local Power Development Department (PDD) officials nothing has been done to redress their grievances.

“We have visited executive engineer PDD and other concerned officers several times but they are showing helplessness in this regard, and are directing us to raise the issue with higher officials ,” a resident said.

They said a transformer, which the department has installed in the area some time ago , was not being made operational for the reasons “best known to the authorities.”

“Our power bills are huge even as the power supply which we get is good for nothing,” Mir, a resident, who identified himself with his surname name said.

Meanwhile, the Executive Engineer PDD, Bandipora Javid Ahmad said, “The power infrastructure being laid to the area was being executed by the projects wing through contractors and once it is complete they will supply proper electricity to the area.”

Assistant executive engineer PDD, Riyaz Ahamd said they will conduct a survey the area in one to two days and collect field reports to check if the matter could be resolved by the department.
