Kupwara: The family members of a newborn baby Sunday staged a protest against the team of Sub District Hospital (SDH) Tanghdar alleging that their newborn baby died due to their negligence.

The family members said that the deceased had received a serious razor cut on the head during the time of delivery on Saturday.

Abid Ahmad told Greater Kashmir that his sister was admitted at SDH Tanghdar on Friday evening following which she gave birth to a baby boy on Saturday morning at about 6 am.

“We were shocked to see blood oozing out from the head of the infant. Seeing the infant’s deteriorating condition, the health team referred the infant to District Hospital (DH) Handwara for specialised treatment,” he said. “The doctors at DH Handwara after seeing the condition of the infant referred the infant to Srinagar for advanced treatment but due to blood loss, the infant died near Pattan.”

They said that the infant had died due to their negligence.

A senior doctor at District Hospital Handwara said that a minor cut could be seen on the head of the infant.

Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah Gulzar Ahmad Rather refuted the claims of any medical negligence by the team of doctors.
