No alternative to peace other than dialogue: Mehbooba Mufti

Kupwara: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti Saturday said that there could be no alternative to peace other than dialogue which both India and Pakistan should undergo for the development and tranquility in the region.

Addressing a news conference at Kupwara, Mufti said that when both the countries can have talks on ceasefire agreement and opening of Kartarpor Corridor then cannot New Delhi and Islamabad hold talks on Kashmir.

She welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to repeal the three farm laws.

Mufti said that though Jammu and Kashmir had not much representation in the Parliament like other states, her party would continue to fight for the restoration of Article 370.

About the Hyderpora encounter, Mufti said that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha being the head of Jammu and Kashmir should take responsibility for the incident in which three civilians were killed.

She said it was the responsibility of the LG to protect the lives of innocent people.

Mufti demanded that the body of the third civilian Aamir Ahmed who was killed in the Hyderpora encounter should also be returned to his family.
