PAGD trying to dilute our ST struggle: Pahari leaders
Rajouri: The leaders of Pahari tribe Wednesday accused the leaders of Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) of attempting to dilute the struggle of Paharis to get Scheduled Tribe status and also alleged them of creating a wedge between the leaders of Pahari and Gujjar Bakerwal community.
Addressing a news conference under the banner of Pahari Tribal Forum (PTF) in Rajouri, Pahari leaders including DDC Thanamandi member Abdul Qayoom Mir, Vice President of Municipal Council Rajouri Bharat Bushan Vaid, Sarpanch Parvez Khan, Sarpanch Munir Mirza, and Rizwan Khan said that the Pahari tribe was struggling for ST status for decades.
“Now that our struggle is near the conclusion, some leaders are trying to dilute it for their political motives,” they said. “Statements issued by PAGD leaders are against Pahari community and are not acceptable."
The Pahari leaders said that the PAGD leaders tried to create an impression that things were not good between the Paharis and the Gujjar Bakerwal community.
They said that the PAGD leaders also tried to create a wedge between the two communities but this was a wrong perception attempted by PAGD as Paharis and Gujjar Bakerwals were two members of the same community.
