Handwara: National Conference (NC) Women’s Wing President ShamimaFirdous Tuesday said that the present situation was an outcome of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rule in J&K.
Addressing a convention programme of the NC’s Women Wing at Kulangam in Handwara, Firdous blamed PDP for splitting J&K saying that it was the dream of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed to “sell” Kashmir.
“J&K has been torn apart and it is all because of the PDP rule. Had PDP kept BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) at bay, the situation could have been different,” she said.
Firdous also accused Mehbooba Mufti of killing civilians and blinding youth including girls during her tenure as chief minister.
Referring to Handwara civilian killings, she said that it was Mehbooba who used force against the people of Handwara during which several people and young boys and girls received pellet injuries in their eyes and lost their eyesight forever.
“Where were her morals that she is showing these days,” Firdous said.
“Had Mehbooba not allied with BJP, the situation would have been quite different,” she said. “We would not have been made slaves. Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah had taught us not to bow before anyone.”
Firdous said that if the youth were coming out to press for their rights like power supply, they were being arrested and booked under the Public Safety Act.
NC organised a day-long women wing convention program at KulangamHandwara with the participation of different party leaders.
Earlier too senior PDP leader NaeemAkhtar had called for refraining from making any statements that would create a discord between the different political parties working for the restoration of special status of J&K. KNO
