People hail complete opening of Mughal Road

Rajouri: People here in Rajouri and Poonch district have hailed the decision of the government for complete opening of Mughal Road and called for provision of all basic facilities on the historic road stretch.

After keeping movement of vehicles restricted over the road, the government recently ordered the movement of vehicles over the road without any restrictions, declaring it open for all.

On Monday, all kinds of vehicles plied over the road without any restriction after routine frisking at Poshana check post.

“We hail this decision, which though is a bit late, but better late than never,” Arif Ahmad, a resident of Rajouri, said.

Nazeem Ahmad from Poonch said that the government should pay attention towards the provision of all basic facilities on the road.

“The main problem is related to mobile telecom signals while there is no proper health facility despite road passing through a tough terrain,” he said.

Deputy SP Traffic, Rajouri and Poonch, Aftab Shah told Greater Kashmir that 75 passenger vehicles moved over the road from Poonch to Shopian side on Monday.

He said that only night restrictions were in place on the road.

“We allow vehicles from Poonch side from 8 am to 3 pm and no night traffic is allowed,” he said.
