Plantation drive by Birla School, Social Forestry at Pampore

Srinagar: A massive plantation drive was organized by Birla Open Minds International School Pampore in collaboration with Directorate of Social Forestry at Pamore today.

According to a press note the importance of planting trees was highlighted by the speakers before the actual drive . The function was presided over by Abdul Aziz Mir Chairman BML Welfare Trust. On this occasion Campus director Birla Open Minds Sheikh Gayas ud Din welcomed all the dignitaries and shared his views about the importance of plantation for the survival of life .

   

Mehraj- u- Din Malik Regional Director social forestry Kashmir made the gathering aware about the various initiatives launched by the department towards afforestation . Regional director praised the school management for their cooperation and enthusiasm displayed from time to time.

Shabir faculty of Harvard University threw light on the pollution caused by texting messages etc which leads to global warming. Therefore he emphasized on planting more and more trees. Dr Raja Muzzafar social activist and environmentalist emphasized about the need of involvement of young generation into the preservation of environment and ecosystem. Haji Manzoor Ahmed Wangnoo Chairman Bilaliya Educational Institute presented the Islamic perspective of plantation.

He also praised the world class infrastructure of Birla Open Minds School Pampore . Waseem Farooq Mir DFO officer on special duty with chief secretary presented his views regarding the importance of plantation . Manzoor Ahmed Bhat DFO social forestry also put forth his valuable suggestions .

Waseem Farooq Mir Dy Conservator of Forests environmental advisor Chief Secy JK expressed essence of such drives to sensitize students towards environment and laid emphasis on conservation of nature and natural resources in order to ensure transformation of legacy to future generations.
