Jammu: Chamber of Commerce and Industries Jammu (CCIJ) Monday appealed to the J&K administration to resolve the genuine issues of the Power Development Department (PDD) employees at the earliest to redress people’s grievances due to the power crisis.

This appeal was made in a meeting of CCIJ chaired by its president Arun Gupta to discuss the current situation arising due to indefinite strike of the power employees due to which the common man was suffering.

Later, addressing the media, Gupta said that it was a matter of concern that the common man was being made to suffer on account of the tussle between the PDD employees and the J&K administration.

“People are already suffering due to the ongoing COVID pandemic and now without electricity, they have been left to fend for themselves. The traders and business establishments including industries have been adversely affected as they can’t run their businesses in absence of electricity, especially because nowadays substantial transactions related to business, commerce, and industries are conducted online,” he said. “Moreover, the drinking water supply remains badly affected due to blackout in the region, adding to the woes of the people,” Gupta said.
