Rajouri: A youth hailing from south Kashmir’s Shopian district has been detained in Rajouri district, Police said Tuesday.
According to Police, the youth in his mid-twenties was found to be in regular touch with militant outfits and was set to join militancy ranks.
It said he was now being handed over to Police in Kashmir Zone for further questioning.
Officials said that a team of J&K Police in Rajouri district intercepted the youth from Shopian when he was travelling in a passenger cab and was set to join militant ranks.
“The youth was detained and questioned during which it came to fore that he was in regular contact with militant outfits from across and was set to join regular militancy ranks,” they said.
“He was in regular contact with militant outfits and agreed to join militancy ranks after which he was asked to reach Rajouri from where he was to be given further destination but Police team managed to intercept him.”
The officials said that Police from Kashmir Zone were also in search of the youth after receiving reports of his contact with militant outfits.
