Srinagar: Apni Party General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir Thursday expressed anguish over the arbitrary salary cuts and terminations of J&K Bank ATM guards regarding taking over security by a new company.
A statement of the Apni Party issued here quoted Mir as saying that such arbitrary decisions were only adding more to the woes of the people who try to earn a dignified livelihood for their families.
“It is highly reprehensible that an adroit section of our society is being pushed to the wall even though they have been working for the past many years delivering their unstinted services. Is this the reward they should be given now,” he said.
Mir urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha-led administration to review this decision at the earliest and redress the grievances of these ATM guards whose hopes had been shattered with this unilateral decision.
“In a welfare state it is highly expedient for the government to safeguard the interest of its citizens and as per employment policy and guidelines, such a decision is extremely hegemonic. I hope LG Sinha will intervene in this matter and resolve their issue on humanitarian grounds,” he said.
