Pulwama, June 2: A man who was under custody snatched a gun from a Policeman during questioning and shot at him inside a camp in Tral area of Pulwama district, Police said Wednesday.
According to Police, the person had gone into hiding and efforts were on to persuade him for surrender.
A top Police official said that the person was under custody and during questioning he snatched the rifle from a policeman and fired at him, injuring him in the process.
The injured policeman has been identified as Amjad Ahmad.
He said that the man hid himself in the generator room and efforts were on to persuade him to surrender.
Another official said that SP Awantipora himself was trying to persuade him for surrender but he was still hiding. However he said that no policeman had been taken hostage.
