Police on Thursday said that Army shot dead a militant in Kupwara district.
Deputy inspector general of police north Kashmir Atul Goel told Greater Kashmir that the militant has been killed and his identity is being ascertained.
Another police official said, "Patrolling party of 9 Para opened fire after noticing suspicious movement near Sagipora Handwara in which a militant was killed."
The official claimed that the deceased militant hails from Sopore and had recently joined militant ranks.
