One HM militant was killed and an army man injured in an encounter at Dhobijan Shopian on Saturday.
Reports said that on a specific information forces launched search operation in forest area of Dhobijan during wee hours today.
"During search operation, as the contact was made, the militants resorted to firing in order to break the cordon which was retaliated triggering an encounter. Two to three militants managed to escape while one militant got killed," police said.
Police identified the militant as Waseem Ahmad Khanday son of Mohammad Ayoub, a resident of Zrakan Keller Shopian.
According to police, Waseem joined militants after he decamped with a rifle from the house of former legislator Abdul Rehman in Tukroo village of Shopian district on September 29.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, Army PRO Rajesh Kalia said, "Search operation in the area is on."
Meanwhile, three police personnel including an officer were injured in an IED blast near Dadsara Tral in South Kashmir's Pulwama district late Friday evening.
Reports said that at about 9:20 p.m some firing shots were heard near Dadsara, 40 kms south to Srinagar.
"After some time the forces rushed to the village. But as they reached near the spot, militants detonated an IED due to which a huge blast occurred under one of the vehicles of forces causing injuries to three personnel including one sub-inspector. He was immediately rushed to Army hospital in Srinagar. One police RAKSHAK vehicle was damaged in the blast," sources said.
However, a police officer said that only one person was injured in the blast.
