Suspected militants snatched five weapons from security guards at a minority picket in Samnoo area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district on Monday evening, police said.
Police said the area has been cordoned off and there have been no reports of injuries to anybody during the attack. As per police reports, the incident took place at about 7:30 pm.
"A minority community police post has been established in the area for their security," police said.
Police alleged that the militants held hostage two youth of the minority community on gun-point and let them go only after the policemen handed their guns over to them. Following the incident, forces cordoned off the area and carried out searches in an attempt to nab the militants. "We have also beefed up the security of the minority community to their satisfaction," police said.
