Minor girl killed, 9 injured in Poonch road accident

Rajouri, June 12: At least nine persons were injured and a three-year-old girl died in a road accident in Saujiyan area of Poonch's Mandi tehsil.

Police said that the accident took place on Saturday evening when a Tata sumo bearing registration number JK20-1646 plunged into a gorge near Mohalla Purian Sundri of Saujian. The vehicle was on its way from Maidan to Mandi.

Three-year-old Anadhia Akhter daughter of Imtiaz Ahmed died on the spot while nine persons on board the vehicle got injured. The injured were evacuated from the spot and taken to local a hospital.

The injured were identified as: Shabir Ahmed (35) son of Abdul Ahad, Razia Akhter (29) wife of Imtiaz Ahmed, Imtiaz Ahmed (29) son of Mohammad Ashraf, Tahira Begum (23) wife of Mohammad Ibrahim, Muskan Shabir (12) daughter of Shabir Ahmed, Mohammad Akib (9) son of Shabir Ahmed, Misbah Akhter (7) daughter of Shabir Ahmed, Mohammad Shafi (35) son of Abdul Gaffar, Sajad Ahmed (12) son of Mohammad Shafi resident of Saujiyan.

Police said that all the injured were shifted to Mandi sub district hospital after first aid in Saujiyan PHC. “A case has been registered in Mandi police station in this regard,” police said.
