Amid tight security measures, around 94 percent students appeared in class 12th examination across Baramulla district on Monday.

However, most of the students complained of hardships. "There was no heating arrangement in exam halls in this biting cold. There was also no transport arrangement in place for the students," said Gowhar Ahmad.

The authorities had declared all the 72 examination centres hypersensitive and there were elaborate security measures in and around the examination centres.

"We have a smooth conduct of the examination today. There were extra measures in place to ensure that candidates appearing in the examination don't face any problem" said Chief Education Officer Baramulla, Mushtaq Ahmad. According to reports, around 15 companies of police and paramilitary forces were deployed in Baramulla district to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination. These centres were located at 36 different locations and were manned by the security men throughout the day.

In volatile Palhallan area, the examination centres were shifted to relatively safer places.
