Old rocket shell recovered, defused in Kupwara: Police

Kupwara, June 3: A 51-mm old rocket shell was recovered from Kralpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday, Police said.

According to a Police official, soon after the recovery of a rocket shell near Jamia Masjid, a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called to defuse it.

“The rocket shell was defused at WarsunKralpora area without causing any damage,” he said.

The Police official said that facts were being ascertained about the presence of rocket shell.

He appealed the general public to inform Police if any metallic substance is found to thwart any human loss.

In a recent incident in Tarathpora, Kupwara two women lost their lives after an explosive that they had brought from Chowkibal forests while collecting wild vegetables exploded at their residence.
