At least one person was reported dead and another missing after an avalanche struck Aru Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday.
Earlier, reports said three persons went missing after the avalanche struck the area. However, one among the trio was rescued.
An official said that a JCB was swept away by an avalanche along with three persons during snow clearance from Aru-Pahalgam road at Gudkhamb point.
An official said that the rescue teams and machinery were swiftly pressed into service to rescue the missing persons.
