Independent legislator and Awami Itihad Party (AIP) Chairman, Er Rashid, Monday staged a sit-in outside the assembly to demand plebiscite on both sides of Line of Control (LoC).
The MLA who represents north Kashmir's Langate segment was holding placard "Hold plebiscite on both sides of LoC" in hands and sat outside the entrance of the assembly.
Rashid however ended his sit-in after Governor N N Vohra arrived for his address to joint sitting of legislature.
Talking to media persons during sit-in, Rashid said plebiscite will decide if people across JK are ready to remain with India. "Holding plebiscite will resolve Kashmir issue for ever and parliament resolution will be implemented as well," he said. He said resolving Kashmir issue will set a way forward for an era of new development in J&K state.
Referring to JK state's "temporary agreement" with India, he said the position of Governor in JK is unconstitutional and the seat can't be occupied by non-state subjects.
"The position of Governor in JK state is unconstitutional. I don't consider him a Governor. We have our own Sadr-e-Riyasat and he (Vohra) is not constitutionally our Governor," MLA Rashid said.
