Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will raise the issue of India's "excessive use of force" against civilians in Jammu and Kashmir during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session, a statement from the PM House said.

"The Prime Minister has expressed grave concern during today's meeting over India's use of excessive force in occupied Kashmir," said a spokesperson from the Prime Minister House, adding that the issue will be raised during the UNGA session.

The issue of India's treatment to Kashmiris was at the forefront of discussions held during the meeting on Friday for the upcoming UNGA session.

In the worst violence in years to hit the Valley, at least 78 civilians have been killed and thousands more injured by security forces after the killing of a prominent militant commander Burhan Wani on July 8.
