Police probing low intensity blast in Rajouri village

Rajouri, June 6: J&K police and other security agencies have started investigation into the incident of a low intensity explosion outside house of a woman Sarpanch in Androlla village of Rajouri.

Family members of the Sarpanch and villagers said that during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday at about 1:30 AM, an explosion was heard outside the house of Sarpanch Androlla, Sushma Kumari.

   

“A clay chullah (stove), and two motorcycles suffered minor damage due to splinters that spread in the area from the explosion. There are splinter marks all over the walls and pillar of the front side of house,” said the family terming it a cause of fear for local residents.

Official sources said that the explosion was of low intensity and is suspected to have been of a “crude bomb nature” filled with small size circular shape splinters. They said that none got injured in the explosion.

Police on the other hand said that soon after the information of this incident was received, a team of police from Police Post Chingus rushed to the spot. “The Additional SP Rajouri also reached there are started probe of the matter,” they said.

“Something appears to have blown up outside the house of the Sarpanch but no one got injured,” Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Sheema Nabi Qasba said. She said that senior officers visited the spot and investigation of the case is going on.
