Following rumors about the 'deteriorating' condition of a 10-year old boy who was injured Friday afternoon in Sopore after a stone hit him in his head, locals here held protest demonstrations against the incident on Saturday. The protesters, including family of the injured boy, alleged that the boy got injured when paramilitary CRPF personnel hit him with a stone. However, police had said that the boy received head injury during clashes in the town.
"During the stone pelting on Friday afternoon in Sopore, a ten year old passerby Mursaleen Azad Dar son of Azad Ahmad Dar, resident of Batoora Sopore, was hit by a stone and received injury," a police statement said.The agitating youths this morning held a protest demonstration at several places in the town and demanded immediate action against the culprits. The protesters later started pelting stones at the police triggering clashes at by-pass, Hathishah, Chankhan and Arampora areas of the town.Police lobbed scores of teargas shells to disperse the agitating youths and the clashes continued till late evening.
